MISSION
The Department of Turkish Language and Literature aims to train dedicated Turcologists who are well-equipped in their field and related disciplines, have acquired sufficient knowledge of past and contemporary literature, possess the necessary professional formation, and can follow and apply new developments in Turkish Language and Literature studies.
Another goal of the department is to teach the language, literature, and culture of the Turkish people, who have a history spanning thousands of years and have spread across a vast geography. It also aims to conduct research in collaboration with individuals and institutions working in this field both domestically and internationally, as well as to train scholars who will carry out such research. As a result, by educating generations who have a strong command of the Turkish language—spoken by nearly 250 million people across an 11-million-square-kilometer area—and its literary heritage, the department seeks to foster enthusiasm for living and working together with the peoples of Central Asia, the Balkans, and the Middle East, with whom we have shared historical ties of kinship and neighborly relations.
VISION
To educate students who are familiar with information sources, can access knowledge, and effectively convey their acquired knowledge to their target audience, while designing courses to encourage active student participation.
To cultivate a student profile that is capable of conducting research and applying their knowledge. From the first year of education, students will engage in research related to their field. The department aims to develop educational strategies that consider regional differences and to closely follow innovations and developments within the discipline.
